Your First Visit

first visit

We are always excited about meeting new patients during their first visit to our office. Your complimentary consultation will consist of a thorough clinical examination and a discussion of potential treatment options with Dr. Ellender. This important visit will give us insight into your orthodontic needs and if it is the proper time to begin treatment. We know your time is valuable, so to expedite treatment we may also reserve time following the exam for completing diagnostic records which include X-rays, intraoral pictures and/or impressions if indicated.

During the initial examination for each patient, Dr. Ellender will address the following questions that cover the basics of orthodontic treatment. We encourage you to ask questions as well.

  • Is there a condition that orthodontics can address?
  • Is treatment needed now or should treatment be delayed until appropriate growth, tooth eruption or other factors have occurred?
  • What treatment procedures will be used to correct the problem?
  • Do any permanent teeth need to be removed?
  • How long will treatment take?

Prior to your visit we ask that you print and fill out a New Patient Information form listed below, which will save you time at the office.

Scheduling Appointments

Visiting the orthodontist about every four to eight weeks is an important part of your orthodontic treatment. Our practice will work with you to make sure that your appointments are as convenient as possible. Our office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and we are available to see patients during those hours (we are closed for lunch from 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm). When scheduling appointments please let us know what days and times work best for you as we would be happy to accommodate you.

Visiting the Dentist During Orthodontic Treatment

It is very important that you continue to visit your family dentist once every six months, even during your orthodontic treatment, for teeth cleanings and routine dental checkups. If extra dental care is needed, we will be happy to coordinate with your family dentist to make sure that you are receiving the best care possible.
